Our Team

Meet the editorial team behind Daily Watch Reports — eight journalists and editors covering world, politics, money, tech, culture, sports, and more.

Our Team

Daily Watch Reports is staffed by a team of eight journalists and editors. Every article published on this site carries the byline of one of them. Below are their backgrounds and the beats they cover.

Marcus Hale — Editor-in-Chief

Marcus Hale leads the newsroom and sets editorial direction for Daily Watch Reports. He spent a decade covering domestic and international politics for wire services and regional newspapers before moving into editorial leadership. His approach to running a newsroom is grounded in a simple conviction: readers are better served by fewer, better-sourced stories than by volume for its own sake.

Elena Duarte — World Correspondent

Elena Duarte covers international affairs with a particular focus on Latin America, Southern Europe, and geopolitical relationships between emerging and established economies. Before joining Daily Watch Reports, she reported from Mexico City and Madrid, filing for English- and Spanish-language outlets. She speaks Spanish and Portuguese fluently and reads French.

James Okafor — Politics Reporter

James Okafor covers domestic governance, elections, and federal policy. He began his career on a state capitol beat, which gave him a ground-level understanding of how legislation actually moves — a perspective he brings to national political coverage. James is committed to presenting policy debates in terms of concrete effects rather than partisan framing.

Priya Nair — Money & Markets Editor

Priya Nair edits the Money vertical and writes on economics, financial markets, and personal finance. She holds a degree in economics and spent several years at a financial data firm before moving into business journalism. Her reporting has a practical orientation: she is as interested in what a market move means for a household budget as she is in what it means for institutional investors.

Daniel Reyes — Technology Reporter

Daniel Reyes covers technology companies, consumer products, artificial intelligence policy, and the broader effects of digital infrastructure on everyday life. He is skeptical of both uncritical tech boosterism and reflexive technophobia, and tries to report on what technology actually does rather than what advocates or critics say it will do. He is based on the West Coast.

Sophie Lambert — Culture & Watch Critic

Sophie Lambert writes criticism and reported features across the Culture and Watch verticals, covering film, television, music, books, and the streaming industry. She has been reviewing film and television for nearly a decade and brings a considered, non-hyperbolic sensibility to entertainment coverage. Her work focuses on what popular culture reflects about the societies that produce it.

Hana Kim — Lifestyle Writer

Hana Kim covers health, food, travel, and the rhythms of contemporary life for the Lifestyle vertical. Her writing moves between reported features and service journalism — she is as comfortable profiling a restaurateur as she is explaining a new public health study in plain English. She previously contributed to several regional lifestyle publications before joining Daily Watch Reports at its founding.

Theo Brooks — Sports Reporter

Theo Brooks covers major professional and collegiate sports with a particular interest in the business structures, labor questions, and cultural narratives that surround athletic competition. He believes sports reporting is most valuable when it connects what happens on the field to what is happening off it. Theo has covered multiple championship events and international competitions across football, basketball, and athletics.
