Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

California residents: learn how Daily Watch Reports may share data for advertising under CCPA/CPRA, and how to opt out via email, Google, or browser controls.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Last updated: June 2026

This page is provided for California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). It explains what “selling” and “sharing” mean under California law, how those activities may occur on Daily Watch Reports, and how you can opt out.

What “Sale” and “Sharing” Mean Under California Law

The CCPA defines “selling” personal information broadly — it includes exchanging personal data for money or for any other valuable consideration. “Sharing” under the CPRA specifically covers disclosing personal information to third parties for cross-context behavioural advertising, even without direct payment.

Daily Watch Reports does not sell your personal information in the traditional sense — we do not maintain lists of readers and sell them to marketers. However, like most ad-supported news websites, we work with digital advertising partners (including Google AdSense) who place cookies and collect data about your visits to serve personalised ads. Under the broad CCPA/CPRA definitions, this activity may qualify as “sharing” your personal information, because data about your browsing behaviour is disclosed to third parties for advertising purposes.

We want to be transparent about this rather than burying it in fine print. If you are a California resident, you have the right to opt out.

What Personal Information May Be Shared

The categories of personal information that may be shared with advertising partners through cookie-based tracking include:

  • Identifiers such as cookie IDs and device identifiers
  • Internet or other electronic network activity information, including pages visited, content viewed, and time spent on site
  • Geolocation data at the city or region level (derived from IP address)
  • Inferences drawn from the above to build a profile of your interests

We do not knowingly share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age for targeted advertising purposes without affirmative authorisation.

How to Opt Out

You can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information through any of the following methods:

Option 1 — Email Request

Send an email to [email protected] with the subject line “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.” Please include enough information for us to identify your request (such as your general location or a description of how you use the site). We will respond within 45 days. We do not require you to create an account to submit this request, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising this right.

Option 2 — Opt Out of Personalised Advertising Directly

Because much of the data sharing occurs through third-party advertising technologies, the most immediate and technically effective way to opt out is to use the tools provided by those partners:

Option 3 — Browser-Level Controls

You can block third-party cookies in your browser settings, which will prevent advertising partners from setting tracking cookies on your device. Instructions vary by browser; see our Cookie Policy for links to browser-specific guidance. Note that blocking third-party cookies may affect your experience on some parts of the site.

Option 4 — Global Privacy Control (GPC)

If your browser or browser extension sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat that as a valid opt-out request for the sale and sharing of your personal information, in accordance with California law. GPC-compatible browsers and extensions include Firefox with the GPC extension, Brave, and DuckDuckGo browser.

Your Other California Privacy Rights

In addition to the right to opt out of sale/sharing, California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, share, or sell
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

To exercise any of these rights, review our full Privacy Policy or contact us at [email protected].

Changes to This Page

We will update this page if our data practices change or if California law requires additional disclosures. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
