The Plot of the Series
‘Stranger Things’ is a story about the town of Hawkins, Indiana and the strange things that have happened in its history. It centres around the disappearance of a young boy named Will Byers. When his mother goes looking for him, she discovers Will has seemingly been abducted by strange things from another world. Before long she gets help from the local sheriff, played by David Harbour. Although some of the things that happen in Hawkins seem familiar, most of them have no explanation. This is because the show is set in 1983 and most of the strange things are brought to life by Will’s imagination. The series follows the idea that there is a portal between our world and the strange world. This portal lies beneath Hawkins National Laboratory, where scientists were conducting experiments on behalf of the United States government; their efforts yielded some dark results.
Background of the Series
The Duffer Brothers, Ross and Matt, created ‘Stranger Things’. They also act as co-showrunners on the series. The brothers have been in the industry for quite some time now. They have worked on shows such as Wayward Pines, Game of Thrones and more. They have teamed up with producer Shawn Levy who is also known for his work on Project Almanac, Night at the Museum and more recently The Matrix series.

Will there be season 5 of ‘Stranger Things’ ?
The Duffer Brothers have recently teased a new series. Although they seem to be keeping things a bit quiet, they did make an announcement. Is ‘Stranger Things’ based on a true story ?
It may surprise you to know that ‘Stranger Things’ was inspired by true events. In the eighties the United States government was running a research lab known as Project MKUltra. This program involved experiments on a whole range of things, from drugs to brainwashing. The program has since been discontinued and most of the documents relating to it are no longer available.
