Mandalore is an Outer Rim planet in the Star Wars universe. Swooping through its skies are various gunships, skiffs, and transports. The planet’s capital city is Sundari.
The planet Mandalore was the homeworld of famed bounty hunter Jango Fett (who inspired the clone troopers of the Galactic Empire) before he and his son, Boba, left to pursue their bounty-hunting career. Under Mandalore’s government, the Death Watch had become a growing terrorist organization that threatened to overthrow the leadership of Duchess Satine Kryze. In the opening of the series, Boba is the main antagonist. He is an estranged clone of Jango Fett and serves Darth Vader as he hunts down his father.
At the start of the first episode, Boba travels to Mandalore and attempts to kill his father — Jango Fett. But Admiral Tarkin has discovered that Jango had escaped and sent a team to destroy him. The Fett family is attacked and destroyed in their home. Jango attempts to kill his son, who survives by falling into the ocean below.
Mandalore is a planet that survived the fall of the Galactic Republic and was not conquered by the Galactic Empire. It consisted of multiple member worlds and star systems which were represented by a Senate, along with an executive branch headed by a Supreme Chancellor. The capital world of Coruscant served as the headquarters for both the Republic’s executive and legislative branches.
