In the series, viewers will encounter a lot of violence and gore because many scenes involve battles between Vikings and Saxons. The good news is that it’s worth watching for anyone who loves epic tales with plenty of betrayals.”

Review:

In the first episode, we see Uhtred (played by Alexander Dreymon) with a new family and out of his old Saxon home. He’s also in love again, this time with Gisela who is being forced into an arranged marriage to count Guy de Ponthieu. But he eventually falls for her during their journey together after she helps him escape from berserkers where he was captured as a slave.

It’s hard not to compare season four to its predecessors but it does have some compelling qualities that make it worth watching if you’re already invested in the show or are looking for something similar like Vikings or The Last Kingdom Season Sequel: Age of Swords which comes out later this year.

In terms of story, The Last Kingdom Season Four has to be one of the most dramatic seasons yet. It was fast-paced and had some interesting twists that I won’t spoil for you but it also felt a bit too convenient at times with how everything seemed to go Uhtred’s way in his quest for revenge. There were some scenes where he ended up being captured or almost killed when something else happened like someone swooped in to save him which is fine because this is fiction after all. But the frequency can get old if you’re not looking for an easy viewing experience.

The other thing I will say about season four is that there are no surprises anymore since we’ve heard spoilers from previous seasons. I knew what was going to happen and how it was all going to end so the tension wasn’t as high for me this time around in regards to guessing how things were going to turn out.

Conclusion:

Series creator Bernard Cornwell said that he knew what was going to happen when they started filming so there are no surprises left for fans of the show waiting to see how everything ends up. This means we should be able to look forward to a satisfying end-game with plenty of twists and turns along the way; something which has been sorely missed from popular TV shows like Game Of Thrones or Westworld where many people were disappointed by their endings due to being too predictable.
