The character had previously been one of ten possessions announced in September 2005 by Marvel Entertainment chairman and CEO Avi Arad as being developed for the movie by the recently constructed studio Marvel Studios, after Marvel obtained financing to pay the slate of films to be distributed by Paramount Pictures; Andrew W. Marlowe was engaged to write a screenplay for a Nick Fury movie in April 2006. In April 2019, behind Samuel L. Jackson had characterized Nick Fury in ten Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies as well as the Marvel Television sequel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Richard Newby from The Hollywood Correspondent felt it was time the character accepted his film, calling the character “the MCU’s most influential asset yet to be fully untapped Jackson was connected to reprise his role in Bradstreet’s sequel, with the latter writing and serving as administrative producer

Secret Invasion: Writing

Feige said the sequel would not be looking to fit the scope of the Secret Invasion comic book storyline, in times of the number of characters featured or the effect on the wider universe, and stated that the comic book featured more characters than the crossover movie Avengers: Endgame (2019). Instead, he depicted Secret Invasion as a showcase for Jackson and Mendelsohn that would examine the political paranoia elements of the Secret Invasion comic series “that was generous with the twists and twisting that that took. Jackson said the series would discover some of the things that transpired during the Blip. Cobie Smulders characterized the series as “a very grounded, on-this-earth drama” that was “dealing with real human matters and dealing with trust”
