‘Inventing Anna’ is a show that tells the story of a woman named Anna Delvey who conned her way into high society. She posed as an affluent German heiress and socialite, living in New York City. Sorokin managed to get herself accepted into the art world, with contacts ranging from celebrity stylists to curators at major museums.
The series was created by Mark and Jay Duplass and stars Julia Garner as Sorokin/Delvey. It features scenes of Sorokin’s life in N.Y.C. and also documents the lives of people she met and befriended while in the city, including wealthy art collector/businessman Andy Warhola, model Olivia Bellafante, and curator Benjamin Genocchio.

Is ‘Inventing Anna’ a real story ?
The story of Anna Delvey is based on true events. Sorokin/Delvey was a real scam artist who was arrested in 2018 for fraud and theft.
Sorokin/Delvey lived in New York City for a time posing as an heiress, being accepted into high society, and attempting to secure $22 million in funding for a fraudulent business venture. The only person she managed to gain complete trust from before her plan unravelled was her young therapist, Dr. Nancy Snyderman.
Sorokin/Delvey was arrested and charged with multiple counts of grand larceny and theft by deception in 2018. She was sent to prison and is expected to serve eight years there. Sorokin/Delvey is eligible for parole in February 2023.
A documentary based on her story called The Anna Delvey Story will be released in 2020 on Netflix.

Anna Delvey is currently incarcerated in the Women’s Federal Correctional Facility in Danbury, Connecticut. She was arrested and charged with fraud and theft by deception, spending two years in a New Jersey jail before being convicted of wire fraud in 2018.

Is there a season 2 of ‘Inventing Anna’ ?
Netflix announced that it wouldn’t be renewing ‘Inventing Anna’ for season 2. Following the Netflix cancellation, Anna Chlumsky wrote a tweet about the show’s ending, thanking the cast and crew for creating this series.
“It was an insanely emotional experience for all of us,” Chlumsky wrote. “I feel so lucky to have been a part of it as we were all such unique artists with our own particular talents and voices, but also, I feel like we made something so special in telling this story.
