Season 1:

The first season of Euphoria premiered on HBO in May 2018 and was met with a lot of praise. The show quickly garnered fame for its raw exploration into the lives of teens living in today’s society. With the release date for Euphoria season, two finally announced (June 03, 2020), it’s time to find out what all the hype is about! For those who have yet to watch this groundbreaking teen drama series, here are some quick facts that you should know before tuning in to see if Euphoria is right for you.

About the show:

Euphoria is an American drama television series created by Sam Levinson and starring Zendaya as Rue Bennett. The show’s first season premiered on June 16, 2019, to mixed reviews from critics but was a success for HBO, with the premiere episode attracting about two million viewers.

Season one follows 17-year old RUE BENNETT (Zendaya) who navigates life after her drug dealer boyfriend dies in a fatal overdose during their senior year of high school. As she struggles to balance honouring his legacy while coming into her own time at college, she must deal with this idea that he will always be there watching over her no matter what happens next – even when it means killing those closest to her.

The first season of Euphoria was a groundbreaking and honest look at drugs, social media, sex, and mental illness. The show told the story of 17-year old Rue (Zendaya) who’s just been discharged from rehab for opioid addiction but is quickly drawn back into her former life in one last effort to make things right before she leaves juvenile detention for good. Along with friends Jules (Hunter Schafer), Kat (Barbie Ferreira), Nate (Jacob Elordi), Kianna (Shenae Grimes) and Cola Boyz member Drip Drop aka Tyrone Wilson Jr., they embark on an unsupervised journey through their hometowns while trying to avoid more jail time.

Season 2:

The second season of Euphoria was released on June 16th, 2019. Season two picks up after the events from the first and follows a group of teenagers as they navigate love, drugs, identity formation and social media. The show has been renewed for a third season that is set to air in 2020.

Euphoria stars Zendaya’s best friend Storm Reid as Rue Bennett who struggles with coming out which leads her down an even more dangerous path of addiction and self-harm. Other main characters include Jules Vaughn played by Maude Apatow (daughter of Judd) who also deals with addiction but is steadfastly committed to staying clean; Nate Griffin played by Angus Cloud (a closeted gay teen).

Euphoria Season Two will premiere in the U.S. on June 17th, 2019; at 12:01 am ET/PT with all-new episodes airing Sundays at 11 pm exclusively on HBO.

Plot Line of Euphoria Season Two:

In season two, Rue will come to understand the consequences; both physical and emotional – of her body’s betrayal as she must work harder than ever to maintain control. The trauma from the previous year has left an indelible mark; on all our young people who are survivors in their own way. But with each passing day, they grow a little stronger. As we follow these characters through new challenges this season; one thing is clear. There isn’t always such a thing as closure so much; as there is peace eventually found when you find what it means to move on. But that won’t be

There are a lot of things that are left to be desired in Euphoria Season One.

There is little character development; and virtually no backstories for the main cast. Especially Zendaya Coleman’s Rue Hollander; who seems to merely exist on the show. As an aesthetic one-note character – someone whose only desire or goal is to get her next high.
