At the helm of Freeridge is the showrunner, co-creator, and organizational producer Lauren Iungerich, along with her co-producer and co-EPs Jamie Uyeshiro, Eddie Gonzalez, Jeremy Haft, and Jamie Dooner.
On My Block, which debuted on Netflix in 2018 and ran for four seasons before finishing in 2021, followed four strange and street-savvy friends as they steered coming-of-age in the inner city. The show suspended out its more profound themes like gang brutality with fun subplots like Jamal’s myth-busting pursuit of suppressed neighborhood treasure.
