Coming soon comes the crime drama Luther: The Fallen Sun, which Jamie Payne and Neil Cross also wrote. The same-named television series by Cross will be continued in the film.

In the upcoming Luther: The Fallen Sun, the follow-up to the popular BBC One series Luther, Idris Elba will reprise his role as Detective John Luther. Luther: The Fallen Sun is expected to premiere in March 2023. The movie will once again be helmed by Jamie Payne, who previously handled Luther series 5. The script was written by show creator Neil Cross. The movie’s producers will also include Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready in addition to Cross and Elba. Dan Finlay, Brendan Ferguson, Miki Emmerich, Kris Thykier, and Priscilla Parish all share executive producing responsibilities.

Luther: The Fallen Sun Cast?

Dermot Crowley and Idris Elba both reprise their roles as Detective John Luther and Martin Schenk, respectively. They will be accompanied by Emmy Award-winning actor Andy Serkis, who will play the antagonist, and Academy Award-nominated actress Cynthia Erivo, who plays Luther’s adversary. There are currently no unannounced cast members.

Luther: The Fallen Sun release updates?

The movie will be released in Europe on March 2023. It is currently unknown when it will be shown in the US and Canada. The release date shifts by two months from where the BBC One series left off, which means Luther: The Fallen Sun will premiere after Luther Series 6 has aired for six months.

Synopsis of Luther: The Fallen Sun

The Luther movie’s logline was released by Netflix:

An evil serial killer terrorizes London in Luther: The Fallen Sun, an epic follow-up to the award-winning television series that was recreated for the big screen, while brilliant but disgraced investigator John Luther (Idris Elba) is imprisoned. Luther decides to escape prison to complete the task using any means required since he is haunted by his failure to apprehend the cyberpsychopath who is now taunting him.

Does Luther: The Fallen Sun have a trailer?

Yes, there is a trailer for Luther: The Fallen Sun.

A YouTube video by JILLIAN WEHL on February 13 shows the trailer’s first half-minute. Luther: The Fallen Sun Teaser Trailer TV Spot is the name of the videotape.

The trailer has subtitles and the following cast members are introduced: Idris Elba, Lauryn Ajufo, and Emmy Award-winning actor Andy Serkis (as “The Voice”).

Idris Elba is once again Detective John Luther. He is kidnapped and tortured by an unknown man with no visible face who turns out to be a psychopathic computer hacker named “The Voice.”

In August 2013, when the show’s creator Neil Cross stated he had developed a script for a prequel to the series, the idea of a movie adaptation for the BBC series was initially brought up.

Idris Elba said in July 2020 that there were no “formal plans” for a third season of the show but that he was eager to play the character again in a movie and that it was almost time. Elba will act with Cynthia Erivo and Andy Serkis in the movie, which will be released on Netflix in September 2021.

On November 10th, 2021, Elba made a filming announcement.

Both London and the Lite Studios in Brussels, Belgium, were used for filming.
