The truth is out there and Janeane Garofalo is going to find it. As the acclaimed actress said in a recent interview, she’s been asked for years about whether or not “October Faction” was based on her own family stories of life as part of an organized crime syndicate. She has always insisted that they are fictional tales from Canadian author Steve Niles (author), but now we know that isn’t true! The second season of October Faction will air exclusively on Shudder TV starting this month, and really take fans into their world – revealing things never before seen.
Leading up to the release date, I had a chance to speak with series creator/showrunner Damian Kindler at length about what the new season of “October Faction” will reveal.
Damian said that this year, we’re going to spend a lot more time with Janeane’s character Freda and learn much more about her back story than in previous seasons. We’ve seen glimpses before, but now it’ll be fleshed out through flashbacks to when she was younger (and played by actress Megan Follows). There are also hints at how Freddy is part of an ancient lineage – one that has ties not just to organized crime groups in Canada but all over the world! And as for why he chose Janeane Garofalo? “I always wanted the show grounded in reality,” Damian says. “And who better than someone like Janeane to bring the show back down to Earth?”
