The popular show, which premiered in 2017 and follows the story of an orphaned girl growing up in rural Canada during the 1890s, will return for another eight episodes. Season three was released last year and saw Anne (portrayed by Amybeth McNulty) take her first steps towards womanhood.
has a romance. Along the way, she discovers that even those closest to you can be capable of great cruelty. Anne is still an outsider in many ways but now also an insider too, trying to figure out how people will react when they discover her secret: that she’s a girl who wants to become a writer.
The showrunner Moira Walley-Beckett says Season Four will tackle some big issues while continuing its exploration of identity and otherness, both inside and outside one’s family, including bullying at schools as well as race relations in Canada during this period of history. “I think it was just about time we got back into telling these stories, and to tell them in an interesting way.”
In the fourth season, Anne will face an exciting new chapter in her life. The first episode of the show is set to air on Netflix on November 30th and it has been said that this year’s storyline will focus on “Anne’s teenage years as she grapples with what society expects from a young woman while also exploring gender identity issues and other social themes such as inequality, feminism, classism or environmental consciousness.”
This means we can expect some serious drama! We can’t wait for Season Four!

We can’t wait for all that Season Four has in store – so let’s talk spoilers now! We have seen some sneak peeks into what is going to happen in the first episode of Season Four which airs on Netflix on November 30th but there are still plenty of details we haven’t heard yet! From what I’ve learned, it seems like season four will be focusing at least partly around Anne as she starts to think about her future.
What I’m most looking forward to is seeing what Anne does with all of the letters she has been collecting from people around Green Gables and Avonlea, as well as getting a glimpse into how Gilbert feels about their relationship now that they’re back together again. And then there’s anne’s old friend Diana living in New York City who we’ve never met before! I might be biased but I can’t wait for everyone else to meet this excitable and rebellious new character too. She sure seems like someone worth knowing better!

These are just a few things that make this show one of my favorites on TV (and Netflix) right now. If you haven’t watched Season One yet then what are you waiting for? It’s only 13 episodes long but they’re some of the best hours ever spent watching television 🙂 ~~

I have loved Anne since I was little girl and now my daughter loves her too. She can’t get enough of this show she watches every single episode multiple times over 🙂 It has been such a fun experience watching anne with my daughter and talking about all these ideas that come up together, like why do people bully? And who are our heroes? Which is your favorite character afterall these seasons? Who would you like to see Anne be friends with?
I’m looking forward to watching the new episodes together too! I can’t wait for Gilbert’s hair and Mr. John Matthew Cuthbert – what a perfect friend he’ll make 🙂 And then there is Miss Josephine Barry, who will always have an important role in anne’s life ~~
This show has been so much more than just entertainment for my daughter or me, it has really made us think about things that happen today. We feel connected to her story on such a level and we love how she never gives up, even when times are hard ~~We want you all at home to experience this connection as well because we both know that learning about our history makes us better citizens.
