The movie is based on the DC Comics character Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle and is produced by DC Studios, Entertainment One, S&K Pictures, and the Safran Company, and set for distribution by Warner Bros. It is considered to be the 14th film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The director of the film is Angel Manuel Soto and was hired to direct the film in February 2021 for the streaming service HBO Max.

Who is Blue Beetle in the comics Book?
Blue Beetle is an alias that several characters have taken on over the years in comics. Jaime Reyes is the third and most recent renewal of the hero. He is also the only repetition of Blue Beetle created by DC Comics, whereas the other two characters were created by Charlton Comics and acquired by DC. Reyes was an average teenager from El Paso, Texas before becoming Blue Beetle. He is very loyal and trustworthy to his family and friends and always tries to help his family as much as possible. His parents are determined to let him be a kid for a while and refused to work in his father’s garage. Everything in Reyes’s life changed when he happens to discover a scarab. The scarab ends up binding Reyes’ spine and giving him his powers. In danger, the scarab can activate an advanced technological suit of armor to encase him to protect himself. Shortly after receiving his powers from scarab, he was dropped in by Booster Gold for a mission.
On the mission, he traveled through some dimensions that messed with his perception of time. When he returned his home, he realized he had been gone for a year. He decided to reveal to them his identity as Blue Beetle. Reyes’s father, mother, and sister remained suspicious and fearful of him for a time. After all these incidents he worked on getting his family to accept his Blue Beetle identity. He investigated to know where scarab is and to find its true nature and source of power. He realizes through his investigation that it is a piece of alien technology from a species called the Reach. Reyes devoted much of his time and ensured that this species of alien conquerors never succeeded in their desire to conquer Earth. He also served with Teen Titans and the Justice League throughout his overall superhero career.
