NBC has renewed “Quantum Leap” series for Season 2

The popular science fiction television series “Quantum Leap” began in 1989 with a brief pilot episode. It was later picked up for a full season run, which ran until the series finale in 1993. The 13-year gap between the two seasons, “Quantum Leap” has enjoyed recent popularity over the last decade with new fans. NBC announced on 11 November 2015 that “Quantum Leap” will be coming back for Season 2. NBC has renewed Quantum Leap, a sci-fi drama series with an Asian American lead for its second season. The early renewal comes after the network extended the first season of the show by six episodes, for a total of 18 episodes in the reboot of the original 1989 show. lead physicist Ben Song helms Project Quantum Leap. His predecessor, Dr. Samuel Beckett disappeared nearly 30 years before while using the lab’s Quantum Leap accelerator.

Quantum Leap Season 2 Air Date: 

    Quantum Leap Season 2 episodes aired on Friday nights at 8 pm ET on NBC starting on 25 March 2016. It is one of the earliest Asian-American leads in a primetime television show. Although there have been many positive outcomes since the show aired, this is still a major accomplishment for Asian Americans. This is the first time an Asian American has starred in a primetime television series with lead status, but also the first time an Asian American was given top billing in any television series. As of 2018, there has yet to be another full-length prime-time series with an Asian-American as the main lead character in a drama and action series.

The Quantum Leap series is about:

     Quantum Leap is an American science fiction television series which is created by Donald P. Bellisario and premiered on NBC and aired for five seasons from 26 March 1989 to 5 May 1993. The series star Scott Bakula as Dr. Sam Beckett (a physicist), who involuntarily leaps through spacetime during experiments in time travel by temporarily taking the place of other people to correct what he consistently discovers were historical mistakes. Dean Stock well co-stars as Admiral Al Cala Vicci, Sam’s womanizing, cigar-smoking companion and best friend, who appears to him as a hologram and researches and shapes his opinions of the past.

The series features a mix of humor, drama, romance, social commentary, and science fiction. It was ranked number 19 on TV Guide’s “Top Cult Shows Ever” in 2007.

A revival series was ordered by NBC, which premiered on September 19, 2022

The Quantum Leap series plot:

       In 1961, in the Tao-Klien Solar Laboratory, a brilliant physicist named Dr. Sam Beckett accidentally creates a machine that allows him to jump in time and space often without much control over how his travels take him to different moments in his own life. As he continues to make these leaps, he becomes aware that the world is not what it used to be. His actions cause a series of worldwide problems. Each leap affords him the ability to correct those mistakes before they become permanent so that the world has continued forward almost unchanged from the point at which he left off, with only small alterations because of his visitations.

In the Quantum Leap series, all of the characters adopt a new name but use their original last name for their professional careers. All of the main characters and Villans are featured in this television series, and this is followed in each episode.
