A month after the release of Top Gun: Maverick, actor Miles Teller has revealed that he would like to return to the role of Rooster for Top Gun 3 if Tom Cruise will agree. Top Gun: Maverick has exceeded expectations critically and commercially. Top Gun has been credited as saving the box office with the most tickets purchased for any movie in 2022 that earning more than a billion dollars worldwide. The sequel has soared past the original, scoring a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes in terms of reviews, which beats the original by 14%.
Top Gun: Maverick sequel earned an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score with a 96% critics rating and a 99% audience rating. With these types of numbers, it is no surprise for the fans that are wondering if there will be a Top Gun 3.
Why Do We Need Top Gun Part 3?
Fans are expecting for third Top Gun film right now. Also, the ending of sequel left the audience craving answers that only another movie can provide. In part two, Maverick and Rooster had just begun to mend their relationship when they hit a massive snag. We’ll need a few more missions for sure.
Also, Maverick crucially introduced a new fleet of pilots alongside Teller’s Rooster: Monica Barbaro’s Phoenix, Glen Powell’s Hangman, Jay Ellis’s Payback, and Danny Ramirez’s Fanboy, meaning there are plenty of plots and subplots worth exploring.
Top Gun: Maverick Blooms at the Box Office
Bruckheimer previously spoke with Entertainment Weekly about why Top Gun: Maverick crushed the box office and made some Marvel comparisons. Bruckheimer explained “I think audiences have been seeing so much CGI, which is wonderful, I go see the same movies, but it is also nice to see the real deal and to be part of a camaraderie of characters that get up in the sky and could have to be as good as they can be. “The audiences love Marvel and love the DC stuff. They were beautifully made by talented people. Sometimes you want to see something that is real and that is what Top Gun gave us… These aviators are out there protecting our country, for now, flying around the world and you are taking a ride with them. You are seeing what they do and are doing this you are seeing what their life is like and the trials and tribulations that they have to go through in their life. You are experiencing it with our actors.
