The first image of Joker: Folie à Deux revealed the return of Joaquin Phoenix’s return as Arthur Fleck, and it clues that it will be a very different sequel than expected. Back in 2019, Todd Phillips introduced a different version of Batman’s most popular enemy, the Joker, in the psychological thriller simply titled Joker to the audience. Instead of seeing the Clown Prince of Crime going after his long-time enemy, Joker followed a failed clown and stand-up comic called Arthur Fleck, who goes down into mental illness and ends up triggering a violent revolution against the rich in a decaying Gotham City.
In June 2022, Fox announced that “Joker: Folie à Deux” will be released in October 2024. It will be a direct sequel to the original movie, not a reboot. In June 2022. However, the exact releasing date is not announced.
The sequel to Joker is now filming, reported by a reliable source. In June 2020, the first image of the set has been made public after it is confirmed that Emma Stone is also in the sequel as Jean Harlow’s assistant. The image also features Joaquin Phoenix returning with his ear torn and bleeding, which suggests the actor’s character will have some direct involvement in the sequel, either through a hallucination or another way.
