Black Adam

Recently released movie ‘Black Adam’ did not give that surprise as we expected , apart from superman  cameo .The character ‘Black Adam’, which began in 1940 and continued right up to 2010. It follows his life from childhood, through his many appearances in comics like Shazam!, Captain Marvel Jr., and even Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen stories. It also explains how Black Adam was created to be a villain with an effective back-story that would make him stand apart from other villains.

In the 1970s, shortly after ‘Black Adam’ was created, DC Comics decided that they no longer needed him as a villain. By this time, other publishers had started using black characters as African superheroes in their comics. DC didn’t want to be competitive with those companies and so they decided to simply kill off ‘Black Adam’ in order to make room for another new comic character called Shazam.

What is ‘Black Adam‘ ?

Black Adam’ is an Arabic superhero, also known as Teth-Adam. He was originally a servant to an ancient wizard named Shazam, but he became possessed by the Egyptian god, Set. He’s capable of all of the same abilities as Superman with a much darker personality. His family was killed by an ancient pharaoh that they were protecting, so ‘Black Adam’ sought revenge. He became the sworn enemy of his former master and killed him in battle.

Black Adam’s powers come from ancient Egyptian gods that are bestowed upon him when he speaks the name of “Shazam”. The six gods are: Shu (power), Heru (strength), Amon (sight), Zehuti (knowledge), Aton (flight), and Mehen (protection).

What is ‘Black Adam‘s Enemy ?

Black Adam is one of two main characters in Shazam! The other character is Captain Marvel, also known as Billy Batson. Batson gains his powers when he says the wizard Shazam’s name.

Box Office Collection

Black Adam’s actual box office collection was $19,017,449 with Shazam! opening at roughly $225,451,058. That gives ‘Black Adam’ a total of about $260 million in total box office receipts for his entire run.

They also estimated that The Rock made about 67% of the money he needed to break even on ‘Black Adam’ . Therefore, it’s entirely possible that he lost more than $100 million on Black Adam alone. The Rock, of course, had other movies during this period as well, so his running tab was at least $200 million.

Is ‘Black Adam’ Sequel Possible ?

“Well, it’s kind of weird,” The Rock told GameSpot. “It’s one of those things where you get a script that was good, the studio made a good movie but we didn’t quite hit the mark globally.” So what went wrong? “I think it was just the characters,” he continued. “That Black Adam/Shazam! The relationship is so unique and so special, I think we just didn’t get it quite right.

“We went for a villain that was not just your cookie cutter villain that we’ve seen. I think a lot of people were not familiar with the original story and the characters, so I think that was something we didn’t do quite right.”
