James Cameron has confirmed that “he’s 100% dedicated to making the sequel happen” and Robert Rodriguez is down for it. James and Robert Rodriguez both promise that they will be eager to get Alita 2 going as soon as possible if Battle Angel does well with audiences. James Cameron said that “it’s a good thing about anime is there is no end of Alita stories that can tell.  James Cameron wrote the script with co-writers Laeta Kalogridis and William Wisher Jr., according to Indie Wire. 

Robert Rodriguez also added that If Alita does well, there will be a sequel. James Cameron and I already talked about that. That’s why I want — if Alita does well — for him to direct the sequel of Alita because he’s obsessed with the story.

 What Do James Cameron and Robert Rodriquez promise for Alita Battle Angel 2?

    James Cameron and Robert Rodriquez swear to make the Alita sequel. Alita: Battle Angel movie’s ending directly set up a sequel of the movie, it has been clear that there is room for the film franchise to continue it. And the producer James Cameron and director Robert Rodriguez have promised to make Alita 2. The moment came as part of a virtual interview between the two filmmakers for Variations. They ended their conversation with Cameron saying they needed to make an Alita sequel and Rodriguez also agreed with him leading to Cameron joking about making the virtual blood oath.

   Right now, James Cameron and Robert Rodriquez have just confirmed that they will make a sequel to Alita: Battle Angel. But for now, we have no update about the release date of Alita: Battle Angel 2. Hopefully, we all are waiting for the official declaration from them. 

About “Alita: Battle Angel” movie:

   Alita: Battle Angel was a 2019 American computer-animated science fiction film directed and co-written by Robert Rodriguez. It was produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau, who also co-wrote the film’s screenplay. The film is based on the 1990 manga series “Battle Angel Alita” by Yukito Kishiro about a female cyborg that falls into a garbage dump and is found by scrap metal dealer Daedelus. After turning her over to Dr. Chiren, a cybernetics doctor, Alita becomes a hunter-warrior that hunts for the cruel cyborg trafficker Desty Nova.

Alita was released theatrically in the United States on 14 February 2019, by 20th Century Fox. It received mixed positive reviews from critics and has grossed $98 million worldwide. Mendelson was particularly critical of the film’s script and overuse of CGI.

 “Alita: Battle Angel” plot:

The plot revolves around the titular character Alita (Rosa Salazar), who is rescued from a scrapyard by Doctor Ido (Christoph Waltz). Alita wakes up with no memory of who she is and discovers that her body is largely mechanical, making her an outcast among the Scrapyard’s human inhabitants. She discovers that she has incredible martial arts skills and decides to become a bounty hunter, tracking down criminals.

Alita begins to learn about her past and why she was given life. She discovers that she is a highly sought-after prize and that a deadly businesswoman, (Mahershala Ali) is collecting her.On the other hand, her lengthy absence has taken a toll on her relationship with her friend and lover, Hugo (Keean Johnson). Alita decides to leave the city and discovers that a powerful development corporation is working on a secret project in one of the city’s walls. The corporation kidnaps Alita, prompting Ido and others to mount a rescue attempt. The film concludes with Alita making an ultimate sacrifice to destroy Nova’s ship as it is falling toward Earth.
