Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Introduction to Black Panther Movie :

Black Panther is one of the most anticipated films of all time. This politically-charged film has plenty in store for the audience, making it difficult not to get excited about this movie from day one. A lot of people have been wondering what Wakanda will look like in Black Panther, so we took a closer look and found out exactly how it will be different than the rest of Africa.

Wakanda is a technologically advanced nation state unlike anything ever seen before on earth. The country is filled with wealth of natural resources such as vibranium, the rare metal that is one of the strongest in the world. As a result of this abundance and the advanced technology from their Vibranium-powered Heart-Shaped Herb, Wakanda is a line of beautiful buildings, modern technology and very clean streets.

The capital city is called Birnin Zana, translated to “The Great City.

Background  :

The Black Panther was created by the African revolutionary leader and intelligence officer, T’Chaka . He was born in Wakanda as T’Chaka’s second son but his first born was killed 2 weeks after he was born. T’Chaka would tell his son to never forget his brother and it drove him to become a better king. When T’Chaka became king he built a new nation for Wakanda with great technology and resources chosen because they had always been prosperous before. The Black Panther would become his bodyguard, but after his death T’Chaka’s son T’Challa would become the new king.

The Black Panther was created as a response to the Civil Rights Movement and the Black Power Movement, because Marvel didn’t want to be associated with the idea of black power and wanted to be able to sell comics to all demographics. The Black Panther was also the first black superhero in mainstream American comics, which was a big deal in 1966 when they were first printed. Also, he is the first black superhero in the Marvel Universe, but there were a couple other black superheroes before him like the Blue Marvel and Luke Cage.

Plots Of The Series :

T’Challa, the Prince of Wakanda and man who is to be crowned the King, is called to the battlefields when an American pilot crashes in his homeland. The fallout from his adventures will forever change him. He must triumph over tragedy and rise to hero status. It’s all on him as he takes over for his father as King of Wakandan.

T’Challa, the Black Panther, is still new to his powers and his role as King of Wakanda. He is not only gifted with superpowers but also an abundance of wealth from the country’s vast deposits of natural resources. His status as leader and superhero may be considered to be conflicting jobs, especially when it calls for him to leave his duties as King to become a hero. T’Challa’s sister Shuri is also a prominent figure in the future of Wakanda. She is intelligent and temperamental and will be willing to do anything she has to achieve her goals. T’Challa’s fiance Zuri is one of his closest friends. She too is strategically placed in Wakanda’s government and will play a pivotal role in T’Challa’s rescue mission

Reception From The Critics :

“The official reception of Black Panther has been mostly positive, although some critics have claimed the film is incredibly ‘white’. The Guardian published a review by Scott Mendelson who stated: “Black Panther doesn’t bring much to the table in terms of world-building or story, but the movie succeeds when it comes to spectacle”.
Critics state that not enough time is spent on Wakanda and there’s no real motivation for why T’Challa takes up his role as king and protector. Black Panther’s box office sales were $240.1 million and while this is just a fraction of the films’ market, it was still a record for a February release.
