Season 4:

It has been more than two years since Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel about life under totalitarianism served as inspiration for this adaptation that kicked off Hulu’s original lineup four seasons ago. This season, it feels like we finally got to see what might have happened if Orwell had written his cautionary tale today.

The Handmaid’s Tale airs on Wednesdays at 00 pm ET on HGTV Canada.

Season Four of the hit series is set in Gilead’s future and deals with the aftermath of a nuclear disaster caused by pro-life terrorists. For these reasons, many people are wondering whether or not this is the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale.

Atwood has said she doesn’t have any plans to write a sequel and that this will be the last story in her universe. However, it was announced on Tuesday that there is going to be an episode about Gilead 20 years into its future as well as a series finale so we might get one more season after all!
