Riverdale has been one of the many television series that, due to the coronavirus, has been unable to complete its season in full. However, The CW show, based on the Archie comics, has been renewed for the fifth instalment. We will never know what the end of season 4 would be like since the series was left without showing the public its last three episodes that formed this part.
The episode ‘Lesson to Mr Honey’ (4×19) served as a provisional ending thanks to the brief ‘cliffhanger’ that triggered at the last moment. However, what was really going to be the end of the series? Although the ‘ showrunner ‘ of the program, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa , has not wanted to reveal any details, yes that has advanced to the last three episodes of season 4 will serve as the beginning of the next instalment.
The fourth part of Riverdale has meant the farewell of some of the characters that have accompanied the public since the first episodes. We are talking about Skeet Ulrich ( FP Jones ) and M Marisol Nichols ( Hermione Lodge ), Jughead’s father and Veronica’s mother. These two actors have been part of the cast of original parents of the series. However, to give them their well-deserved farewell, the two interpreters will return in the fifth season in the first three episodes that they plan to reuse from the fourth season.
This last season was showing us some time jumps at the end of each of the episodes, to give more emphasis to the plot. Well, as confirmed by its screenwriter, the beginning of season 5 is going to take a great leap in time; of approximately two years.
We understand that this will happen in episode 4, once the first three have been issued as the outcome of the fourth part. This temporary leap will take us into the lives of the protagonists beyond Riverdale High School and maybe even the mysterious town.
The fifth instalment of The CW’s show is slated to premiere in January 2021. Although nothing has been definitively confirmed yet since the exact date of the return to filming by the team and the cast is unknown. What is certain is that in early 2021 fans of the series will be able to enjoy the new episodes.
