The makers of Lucifer have announced the release of season 5. Sadly the fifth season of Lucifer which has been expanded to 16 episodes by Netflix will be the last the fans will get to see.

Lucifer an American television series which has been developed by Tom Kapinos. The show was first aired on Fox television on January 25, 2016. It is somewhat based on the comic characters which were created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringerber, this series is produced by Jerry Bruckheiner Television, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros Television.

Lucifer: Season 5show

The devil Lucifer Morningstar is played by Tom Ellis who is the Lord of Hell and is bored with his life, thus abandoning his throne. The role of detective Chloe Decker is played by Lauren German who solves crimes along with Lucifer who works with her as a consultant. Along with Lucifer, another angel Amenadiel played by D.B Woodside comes to Los Angeles who is the eldest of Lucifer’s siblings.

Plot of Lucifer

The series revolves around a Devil named Lucifer played by Ton Ellis, who abandons his life in Hell and comes down to Earth to live in Los Angeles. He becomes a consultant to LAPD, while working with detectives including Chloe for whom he later develops some feelings.

Previous Seasons of Lucifer

After the end of season 1, the show received some mixed reviews. However, Fox renewed the series and announced a second season which was aired on September 19, 2016. The third season of Lucifer was premiered on February 13, 2017. Later on, it was announced that the popular streaming service Netflix had picked up the series after its producers had announced its end for a fourth season which had only ten episodes, and was released on May 8, 2019.

After the massive success of the fourth season, Netflix has renewed the series for a fifth season consisting of ten episodes. The producers have notified that the final season will be released in two batches starting on August 21, 2020.

Season 4 of Lucifer ended with the scene where Lucifer and Chloe admit their feelings for each other. But sadly he has to leave earth and return to hell, leaving Chloe in order to prevent an apocalypse on Earth. The upcoming season 5 of Lucifer is expected to pick up on the apocalypse and the relationship between Lucifer and Chloe.
