Ragnarok Season 2: Release Date, Cast, and More About The Show

Ragnarok, a new offering of Netflix, is a Norwegian fantasy series produced by the Danish company SAM productions and directed by Mogens Hagedrons. This is the second series in the Norwegian language by Netflix and is inspired by Norse Mythology.

The first season of this fantasy web series consists of six episodes and was released on 31st January 2020. It received mixed reviews and was compared to the Twilight series by many. It holds a rating of 7.5 on IMDb and an average of 67% on the Tomatometer of Rotten Tomatoes.

The official twitter handle of Netflix Nordic confirmed that season 2 of Ragnarok is coming soon. And here is all you need to know about the new season.

Release Date

Netflix usually decides about the new season of a show six months after its release. However, it was quick to give a green signal to Ragnarok for its next season.

Though the pandemic is going to influence the filming schedule of the upcoming season, the fans can expect it to come up in 2021 with a total of six episodes just like the first one.

Cast

The new season of Ragnarok is to return with most of the main cast from season 1.

It is expected to include:

  • David Stakston as Magne
  • Jonas Strand Gravli as Laurits
  • Henriette Steenstrup as Turid
  • Synnove Macody Lund as Ran
  • Herman Tommeraas as Fjor
  • Theresa Frostad Eggesbo as Saxa
  • Emma Bones as Gry

What is to happen in Season 2?

As the finale of the first season of Ragnarok came closer, we saw Magne and Vidar getting into a brutal fight. Though Vidar, being a giant, seemed to be the one to win, the fight, as well as Vidar’s life, was brought to an end by the thunder rained down by Thor.

In the second season of the series, Magne is expected to pit against the existing giants while developing his celestial heritage further. It is also likely that Magne’s brother Laurits is, in reality, Loki, which builds a possibility of seeing him as the next antagonist in the upcoming season of Ragnarok.
